Shotley Bridge v Tynedale Cricket Club 2nd Team on Sat 02 May 2009 at 1.30pm
Tynedale Cricket Club Lost 7 wickets
Match report
Tynedale 2nd XI travelled to Shotley Bridge last Saturday in search of back to back victories.
Losing the toss Tynedale were asked to bat. Barber and Lloyd both found the going tough against a well disciplined Shotley attack. Shotley bropke through in the tenth over, when Ben Lloyd chipped a ball to the hands of the fielder at cover. This sparked a collapse as Barber, Riccalton and Fox all were dismissed within 8 overs with the score on 50. Andrew Whittaker and Ross Keady gave Tynedale some hope hitting boundaries and it was the latter who batted Tynedale to a half competitive total. Keady again impressed, this time with the bat scoring against some tight bowling and carrying his bat for 36. Eventually Tynedale posted 124 and knew they would have to bowl well to win the game.
Ross Keady opened the bowling and struck with his fourth ball - a quick in-swinging ball that trapped Rourke LBW. At the other end Hart was hitting the right areas but to no avail. Again it was left to 16 year old Keady to break through. He was bowling with some fantastic pace for his formative years. This time Ben Lloyd took a simple catch in the covers. Shotley Captain David Golightly batted at the other end and gave Shotley hope scoring regularly. His partnership with Stefan Dabrowski proved match winning as it took Shotley to within four runs before Golightly was bowled by Keady in his second spell. As expected Shotley got over the line with svereal overs to spare.
