Tynedale Cricket Club Won 129 runs

Match report Tynedale 2nd XI faced Burnopfield looking for their first victory of the season with returning Graeme Fox back as Captain.
Losing the toss Tynedale were asked to bat first with Iain Riccalton and Ben Archer opening the innings. Scoring was slow with only 19 coming off the first 10 overs. Ben Archer struggling with the slow pitch fell LBW to Lovell trying to push up the scoring rate. He was replaced by the inform Graeme Riccalton who with his first ball hit a four to the cover boundry. The two batsmen started pushing the ball around picking up singles at every opportunity, this combined with punishing any loose delivery for four the run rate soon picked up. The two brothers both hit their half centurys within an over of each other and this marked aother increase in the run rate. Iain Ricalton hitting sixes and fours in successive overs. The pitch proved the undoing of this partnership that had now surpassed 150 runs when Graeme Riccalton got an under edge to a pull shot for a well worked 71. Debutant Ben Lloyd arrived at the crease and straight away gave evidence of his talent. The score rolled past 200 with boundarys coming easinly. Riccalton eventually went for 89 followed by Fox for 0. Lloyd carried his bat scoring a quick and classy 30. Tynedale posted a very competative 226-5.
After a rather wet interval Ross Keady got Tynedale of to the perfect start with a wicket in his first over. Keady continued to impress with his pace and struck again by removing Barnes LBW. Josh Hart was bowling tightly at the other end and this was rewarded with the wicket of Small caught at mid off. Hart was replaced by 15 year old Jack Garrett and he too bowled extremely well. Garrett used the conditions well bowling a tight line with some good pace and wasn't too long before he struck removing Longstaff and Lovell within three overs. With the rain coming down play was suspended and on return to play Tynedale needed something special and quickly. This was to come in the form of Andrew Whittaker. Whittaker bowled as well as anyone could in the conditions swinging and seaming the ball. In a fantastic spell Whittaker took four wickets in the space of four overs to clean up the Burnopfield tail. These with his earlier wicket of Callum Barnes meant a great return of 5 wickets for 33 runs of his 10 overs.
The future certainly looks bright at Priors Flatt with the emergence of some talented youngsters especially with the bowling exploits of Keady, Hart and Garrett.
