Tynedale Cricket Club 1st Team v Sacriston on Sat 09 Jun 2007 at
Tynedale Cricket Club Won by 3 runs

Match report A beautifully warm sunny afternoon played host to a classic encounter between Tynedale and Sacristan at priors flat last weekend. Just under 550 runs were scored between the teams in a match that went all the way to the last ball with the home team triumphant in a nail biting finale.
Batting first Tynedale amassed a formidable 275-7 in their 50 overs and many could have been forgiven for believing that this game was over at the half way mark, but this was far from the truth.
On this occasion the Tynedale innings was not made up of its usual start from the openers as both Kay and Clark failed to make much of an impression which had Tyne 25-2. From there Graham and Prudhoe built a patient and important stand of over a hundred that put Tynedale back into the driving seat. Although it cannot be said that Prudhoe is in great form his 34 would be to prove vital. At the other end Graham is on top form and he produced another memorable knock that ended just eight runs short of a fine century.
The later part of the innings was dominated by the exuberant abilities of teenager Joe Barber, who has been a real gem in the middle order of Tynedale’s batting order. On this occasion he hit a quick fire 58 in only 38 deliveries. Coupled with a similarly quick 33 not out off Richard Darling Tynedale reached 275-7 off their allotted overs.

In reply Sacristan started brightly to the expense of Twizell junior who struggled before being replaced by Father Henry. Wickets were proving hard to come by and Graham had the only success in the first 20 overs. Armstrong came and went in another disappointing performance, replaced by Kay who produced much of the same. Richard Darling was once again kept out of the attack through injury and without him Tyne do tend to struggle in the bowling department.
It was Professional Stuart Graham that provided the ammunition on this occasion as he claimed wickets on each of his four separate spells that ensured that Sacristans charge for the total was continually checked. Predominantly Twizell worked hard at one end to little avail and with ten overs left Sacristan required 75 with three wickets remaining. From there they still managed to take the game to the final over and then the final ball as they required 3 to win a dramatic game. With Graham bowling however Tyne came out on top thanks to his superb 6-63.
