16 Mar 2011 : ROSS LAIDLAW PROFILE
Ross is 19 and was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal before moving to Cambridge, New Zealand in 2005. He is a fast bowler who likes to hit the pitch hard and swing the ball in to right handers. He describes himself as an agressive batter who enjoys coming in later in the innings and having a 'hit'.

We asked him some questions and this what he said...

What team do you play for in NZ? Previous teams?
My club team is the Cambridge mens 1st XI, i play rep cricket for the Waikato Valley mens side and have played for Waikato Valley age group sides since my arrival in New Zealand in 2005.

How excited/nervous are you about coming to play in England?
Im really excited about coming over and nervous too but once ive settled in i think the nerves will settle too.

What qualities will you bring to the club?
I enjoy a bit of banter in the dressing room and keeping the mood light. Will work hard at my game and at trying to achieve for the team. Enjoy the social side off the field although i may have to get used to the English beer!

What do you hope to achieve from the season with Tynedale?
Over the course of the season i hope to improve as a cricketer in all aspects of the game; fielding batting and bowling. I would like to help Tynedale achieve their goals in the league this season by having a decent contribution in each game we play.

What top players have you bowled at before tests/odis? How did that feel and what has the experience done for your cricket?
I have bowled to the New Zealand, Indian and Australian cricket teams as a net bowler the day before test matches in Hamilton. During these sessions i bowled to Brendon Mccullum, Ross Taylor, Ricky Ponting, Shane Watson, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir as well as most of the other players but for me these players gave me a idea of how good you really have to be as a international bowler; they seem to have so much time and look really solid, it doesnt seem like you have even a small chance of getting them out. I guess these experiences have given me the ambition of maybe reaching this level but we will have to wait and see.

Who is your cricketing hero and why?
Jacques Kallis because of his all round ability with both the bat and ball and because of my South African heritage i guess.

All at Tynedale wish Ross all the best for the 2011 seasona and look forward to him charging in and taking wickets!

We wish bother players all the best in the upcoming season.

14 Mar 2011 : ROSS LAIDLAW SIGNS FOR 2011 SEASON
Tynedale have made their third and final signing for the 2011 season. Ross Laidlaw, a 19 year old South African has joined the club. Ross is from Cambridge, New Zealand having moved there from South Africa in 2005. He is a fast bowler, a very capable hard hitting lower order batsmen and good fielder. He joins other new signings Thomas Cant and Mark Drake in a very balanced and experienced side.
