27 Dec 2010 : FUNDING BOOST FOR TYNEDALE CC
A major project at Tynedale Cricket Club to replace all windows and exterior doors with double glazed units has been completed. Following a surveyor's report the club had been advised to replace all windows and doors which had deteriorated over the years. The project, as part of the clubs development plan is also part of the Northumberland County Cricket Boards facilities strategy which highlights the need for clubs to develop more sustainable energy efficient facilities. Despite having a good heating system, cold and draughts through old windows and doors meant the clubhouse in the winter months was losing heat to the discomfort of users. The committee was aware that if it were to continue to be a well used community hub this needed to be sorted out.
The club has received financial support for the project from Sita Trust, which provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund for projects that enhance communities and enrich nature. Support has also been forthcoming from Councillor Derek Kennedy through the County Council Members Local Improvement Schemes from the County Council's Housing Developer Funds and the County Council's Community Chest Fund. The club in its endeavours to maintain the high standard of facilities at Priors Flat and is most grateful for the interest and financial support of these bodies.
The immediate benefits of the project have been greatly appreciated throughout the recent cold weather while a welcome by-product of the new comfortable clubhouse will be a reduction in heating costs and a positive effect on our environment.
